Minneapolis Family Photography
Real moments, genuine connections — your family's story told naturally.
Natural Family Portrait Sessions
Every family is unique, and your photos should reflect that. Whether it's a relaxed session at your favorite park, cozy photos at home, or a fun adventure with the kids — I'll capture the real moments that make your family, yours.
No stiff posing or forced smiles. Just genuine laughter, little hands held tight, and the love that ties you all together.
Session Types & What's Included
Family sessions are typically 45–60 minutes and include a mix of posed portraits and candid moments. I offer outdoor sessions at parks across the Twin Cities — Minnehaha Falls, Lake Harriet, Boom Island, and Theodore Wirth are popular favorites. In-home lifestyle sessions are also available for newborns, milestones, and families who want a more relaxed setting.
Every session includes a pre-session planning call, wardrobe guidance, a private online gallery with 40–60 edited images, and print-ready high-resolution downloads. Mini sessions are available seasonally in spring and fall.
When & Where to Shoot in Minneapolis
The best time for outdoor family photos is during golden hour — about an hour before sunset — when the light is warm and flattering. Fall sessions (September–October) book fast thanks to Minnesota's stunning foliage, but spring wildflowers and summer greenery are equally beautiful backdrops.
I serve families throughout Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove, Woodbury, and surrounding communities. Travel beyond 30 miles from downtown Minneapolis may include a small travel fee.

Family Photography FAQ
What should we wear for our family photo session?
I recommend coordinating colors rather than matching outfits. Earth tones, soft pastels, or muted jewel tones photograph beautifully. Avoid large logos and neon colors. I'm happy to help with wardrobe suggestions during our planning call!
How do you handle young kids during a session?
I love working with little ones! I keep sessions relaxed and playful — we follow their energy. Some of the best family photos come from candid moments of tickling, running, and giggles. No forced smiles here!
How long is a typical family session?
Most family sessions last about 45–60 minutes, which is plenty of time to capture a variety of poses, candid moments, and different groupings without anyone getting too tired.
When is the best time of year for family photos in Minneapolis?
Fall (September–October) is the most popular for gorgeous golden foliage, but spring and summer sessions are equally beautiful. Golden hour — about an hour before sunset — provides the best lighting year-round.
Can we bring our pets to the session?
Absolutely! Pets are family too. I recommend having someone who can help wrangle them for a few shots, and then they can roam free while we capture the rest.
What to Expect at Your Family Session
My family sessions are relaxed, fun, and completely tailored to your crew. Whether you've got a newborn who just wants to sleep, toddlers who want to run, or teens who'd rather be anywhere else — I know how to work with all of it. We'll mix guided poses with natural play so you get polished portraits and the real candid moments you'll actually want to frame. Sessions typically last 45–60 minutes, and I deliver your full edited gallery within 3–4 weeks.
