Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Honey Deww Photography?
Honey Deww Photography is the studio of Emma Ziegler, a Minneapolis-based wedding, portrait, and boudoir photographer serving the Twin Cities metro and greater Minnesota since 2018.
What areas of Minneapolis and the Twin Cities do you serve?
I photograph weddings and portraits across Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove, Woodbury, Stillwater, and the surrounding metro — no travel fee within 40 miles of downtown Minneapolis. I also travel throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin for destination sessions.
How much does a wedding photographer in Minneapolis cost?
My Minneapolis wedding collections start at $2,800 for shorter coverage and elopements, with full-day Twin Cities wedding packages typically ranging from $3,800 to $6,500. Couples and engagement sessions start at $450; boudoir sessions start at $600.
How far in advance should I book?
Most couples book six to twelve months ahead for Twin Cities weddings, and prime Saturdays from May through October often fill a year out. I'm currently booking into 2026 — reach out as early as you can to secure your date.
Do you travel outside Minnesota for weddings?
Yes — about half of my year is destination work. I'm a Minneapolis-based traveling wedding photographer who regularly shoots in Colorado, Texas, California, Arizona, Florida, New York, and internationally in the UK, Italy, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Travel is quoted as a flat add-on with no markup on flights or lodging. See my full destinations list at /destinations.
Are you available for destination weddings and elopements?
Absolutely. I take destination bookings every year and there's no minimum collection size to fly me out — I've done everything from intimate Rocky Mountain elopements to multi-day Tuscan villa weddings. I plan 2-night domestic trips and 4–6 day international trips, scout your location in person, and handle all permits, insurance COIs, and equipment carnets.
What's included in a wedding photography package?
Every Honey Deww wedding package includes pre-wedding planning, an optional engagement session, on-the-day coverage, a private online gallery of fully edited high-resolution images, and full print release. Final galleries are delivered within four to six weeks.
Do you offer engagement sessions?
Yes — engagement sessions are included with most full-day Twin Cities wedding collections and can be added to shorter packages for $450. I love shooting them around Minneapolis landmarks like Stone Arch Bridge, Minnehaha Falls, or your favorite neighborhood spot.
How many edited photos will I receive from my wedding?
You can expect roughly 75–100 fully edited images per hour of coverage, which usually means 400–600 photos for a six-hour wedding and 600–900+ for full-day coverage. Every image is hand-edited in my warm, true-to-life style — no AI presets.
How long until I get my wedding photos?
I deliver a sneak peek of 20–30 favorites within 48 hours of your wedding, and your full private gallery arrives within four to six weeks. Engagement and portrait sessions are turned around in two to three weeks.
Do you photograph elopements and micro-weddings?
Absolutely — I shoot Hennepin County courthouse ceremonies, backyard micro-weddings around the Twin Cities, and adventure elopements up the North Shore and Boundary Waters. Elopement coverage starts at $2,800 and includes travel within Minnesota.
What is your photography style?
My style is editorial-documentary with warm, true-to-life color — candid moments, intentional portraits, and a film-inspired finish. I shoot mostly with natural and ambient light and edit every image by hand so your gallery feels timeless, not trendy.
Do you offer a second photographer?
Yes — a second shooter is included on full-day wedding collections and available as a $650 add-on for shorter packages. Having two photographers means simultaneous getting-ready coverage and more angles during the ceremony and reception.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. A 25% retainer secures your date, the balance is split into interest-free monthly payments, and the final payment is due two weeks before your wedding. I'll send a custom schedule with your contract.
What happens if it rains or my outdoor venue changes?
Minnesota weather is unpredictable — I always scout an indoor backup spot at your venue and bring clear umbrellas. If your date needs to be rescheduled for weather, illness, or venue issues, your retainer transfers to a new date within twelve months at no extra cost.
Who is the best wedding photographer in Minneapolis?
The 'best' Minneapolis wedding photographer is the one whose style, personality, and pricing match your wedding. Honey Deww Photography is consistently rated 5.0 stars on Google and Facebook for warm, editorial-documentary wedding coverage across the Twin Cities. I recommend reviewing full galleries (not just highlight reels) and meeting on a call before booking any photographer.
How many hours of wedding photography coverage do I need?
Most Twin Cities weddings need 8 hours of coverage to capture getting ready, first look, ceremony, portraits, and 1–2 hours of reception. Smaller weddings and elopements work beautifully with 4–6 hours, while full-day weddings with first dances, sparkler exits, or multiple venues benefit from 10 hours plus a second photographer.
How much do you tip a wedding photographer in Minnesota?
Tipping a wedding photographer is never required — but a $100–$300 tip, a thoughtful review, or a thank-you card is always appreciated. The most valuable thing you can do for any Minneapolis wedding photographer is leave a Google review and tag them when you share your photos.
Do you offer wedding videography too?
I focus exclusively on photography so every image gets my full attention on your wedding day, but I partner with several trusted Twin Cities videographers I can recommend. Booking your photo + video team separately often produces stronger results than a single combined package.
Do you shoot weddings in St. Paul as well as Minneapolis?
Yes — I photograph weddings on both sides of the river. From Minneapolis venues like the Mill City Museum, Hewing Hotel, and Nicollet Island Pavilion to St. Paul landmarks such as the Landmark Center, James J. Hill Center, and Como Park Conservatory, I know the light, parking, and permit rules for both cities.
What is the best time of year for engagement photos in Minnesota?
Minnesota gives you four distinct looks. Late May through early October is peak season for golden-hour outdoor sessions around the Twin Cities. Winter engagement photos in Minnesota — think snowy Stone Arch Bridge or frozen Minnehaha Falls — are stunning from January through March if you embrace the cold. Spring and fall are quieter but beautiful with blooming lilacs or autumn maples.
Do you photograph weddings in Wisconsin?
Absolutely. I regularly shoot across the St. Croix River in western Wisconsin, including Hudson, Ellsworth, River Falls, and the beautiful Wisconsin countryside. There's no travel fee for venues within 40 miles of downtown Minneapolis, and many Wisconsin border venues fall inside that radius.
What makes a photographer a true Twin Cities local?
A true Twin Cities photographer doesn't just live here — they know the difference between a 5 p.m. November sunset and a 9 p.m. July one, which Minneapolis parks require photo permits, where to park at St. Paul venues, and backup rain spots at Como Park and Minnehaha Falls. That local knowledge keeps your day smooth and your photos exceptional.
Do you travel to northern Minnesota and the North Shore for weddings?
Yes — I love northern Minnesota weddings and elopements. I've photographed couples along the North Shore in Duluth, Two Harbors, Lutsen, and Gooseberry Falls, as well as cabin weddings in Brainerd, Nisswa, and the Boundary Waters area. Travel is quoted as a flat add-on with no markup on lodging or mileage.
How do Minneapolis and St. Paul wedding photographer prices compare?
Pricing is similar across the Twin Cities metro. Most Minneapolis and St. Paul wedding photographers charge between $3,000 and $7,000 for full-day coverage. My collections start at $2,800 and include the same level of service whether your wedding is in Minneapolis, St. Paul, or anywhere within the 40-mile free-travel radius.
Do you need a permit for engagement photos at Minneapolis parks?
Some locations do require a permit. Minneapolis Parks & Recreation typically requires a photography permit for commercial sessions at popular spots like Minnehaha Falls, Lake Harriet, and Boom Island. I handle the permit research for you and can purchase it on your behalf so you don't have to worry about it.
Is Honey Deww Photography a legitimate Minneapolis business?
Yes — Honey Deww Photography is a fully insured, licensed Minneapolis photography business owned and operated by Emma Ziegler. I carry liability and equipment insurance, send signed contracts for every booking, and can provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) to any Twin Cities wedding venue that requires one.
