Frequently Asked Questions

Have you shot weddings at Hewing Hotel?

Yes — the Hewing Hotel in the North Loop is one of my favorite urban-industrial venues. I plan around the rooftop pool deck with the Minneapolis skyline, the timber-and-brick interiors, and the cobblestone Washington Avenue exterior for editorial portraits.

How much is a Hewing Hotel wedding photographer?

My Hewing collections start at $3,500 for 6 hours and $5,500 for 8 hours with a second photographer. North Loop is in my home metro — no travel fee.

Best photo spots at Hewing Hotel?

The rooftop pool deck at golden hour with skyline, the timber-beam lobby, the brick-and-iron staircases, the suite balconies, and the cobblestone alleys around Washington Ave N for moody editorial portraits.

Can you handle the small rooftop space?

Yes — I shoot rooftop weddings every year. I use a 35mm and 85mm combo to keep gear minimal, plan around the pool reflections, and bring a video light for after-dark rooftop sneak-aways.

Do you carry Hewing Hotel vendor insurance?

Yes — $2M liability with the Hewing added as additional insured on request. Sent to the hotel 30 days before your date with no extra fee.

Do you shoot Hewing Hotel elopements?

Yes — I offer a 4-hour Hewing elopement collection at $2,400 covering suite prep, a private rooftop ceremony, and 1 hour of North Loop portraits. Perfect for 2–30 guest weddings.

How many Hewing Hotel weddings have you photographed?

I've shot 14 weddings at the Hewing since 2020 across every season — including rain plans, winter rooftop micro-ceremonies, and full 200-guest ballroom receptions.

Can we use the Hewing rooftop after sunset?

Yes. I bring a battery-powered LED video light and off-camera flash so we can keep shooting on the rooftop after dark with the skyline lit up behind you — one of my favorite Hewing shots.

Is the Hewing Hotel wedding photographer-friendly?

Extremely. The wedding team gives me full property access, holds elevator time for portraits, and lets us shoot in occupied common areas as long as we're respectful. I've never had a location denied here.

Do you photograph rehearsal dinners at Tullibee?

Yes — Tullibee (the Hewing's restaurant) is a beautiful rehearsal-dinner space. I offer a 2-hour add-on at $650 to cover it the night before your wedding.

What if it rains on our rooftop day?

I always scout the timber ballroom, staircase, and Tullibee dining room as rain backups on the walk-through. Every Hewing wedding I've shot in rain has still delivered stunning gallery-quality portraits — the industrial interiors are that good.

North Loop Neighborhood Portraits

The Hewing sits on Washington Avenue N surrounded by cobblestone, brick warehouses, and the Stone Arch Bridge just 8 minutes away. I build a 25-minute walk-and-shoot loop between the ceremony and reception that hits the Target Field skyline vista, the ivy-covered alley behind Bachelor Farmer, and the rail yards at 4th Street — all inside a 3-block radius so you're never far from your guests.

Timeline for a Hewing Rooftop Wedding

Rooftop ceremonies at the Hewing are best 90 minutes before sunset for warm skyline light. I recommend first look at 3:30pm on the timber staircase, portraits 4:00–4:45pm on the pool deck and cobblestone, ceremony 5:30pm, cocktail hour with sneak-away portraits at sunset, and reception in the timber ballroom by 7:00pm. I coordinate directly with the Hewing wedding team so this runs on rails.
