Where to Elope in Minnesota

North Shore of Lake Superior

Split Rock Lighthouse, Tettegouche State Park, Gooseberry Falls, and Palisade Head — Minnesota's most dramatic elopement coastline. Best in fall foliage (late September) and snowy January.

Courthouse Elopements — Minneapolis & St. Paul

Hennepin County Government Center and Ramsey County Courthouse make for stunning, modern-architecture courthouse elopements. Pair the ceremony with portraits at Stone Arch Bridge or the Mill District.

Boundary Waters (BWCA) Adventure Elopements

Canoe-in, hike-in, fully off-grid wilderness elopements. Permits and planning take 3–6 months, but the result is unmatched — wild, private, and entirely yours.

Minnehaha Falls & Twin Cities Park Elopements

For couples who want a quick, beautiful Minneapolis elopement — Minnehaha's 53-foot waterfall, Como Park's Conservatory, and the Mill District ruins all make for unforgettable city-side ceremonies.

Private Cabins & Backyards

Lake Vermilion, the St. Croix River, family land — Minnesota's private-property elopements are some of the most intimate and personal weddings I photograph.

Destination Elopements

I travel from Minneapolis to Colorado, the PNW, the UK, Italy, and beyond. Destination elopement quotes are transparent and tailored — message me with your dream location.

Elopement Photography FAQ

How much does an elopement photographer in Minnesota cost?

Elopement and micro-wedding photography with Honey Deww Photography starts at $1,800 for a 3-hour intimate ceremony coverage and scales up for full-day adventure elopements. Every elopement collection includes a planning consult, ceremony coverage, portraits, and a private online gallery with all edited high-resolution images.

What is the difference between an elopement and a micro wedding?

An elopement is typically just the two of you (sometimes with an officiant and a witness), focused on the ceremony and portraits. A micro wedding is a small celebration of 20 guests or fewer with shortened day-of timelines. I photograph both throughout Minnesota and as a destination photographer based in Minneapolis.

Where can you elope in Minnesota?

My favorite Minnesota elopement spots: the North Shore (Split Rock Lighthouse, Tettegouche, Gooseberry Falls), the BWCA, Pipestone National Monument, Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis, the cliffs at Interstate State Park, and any private cabin overlooking Lake Superior. I send every couple a Minnesota elopement location guide after booking.

Do you photograph courthouse weddings in Minneapolis and St. Paul?

Yes — Hennepin County Government Center and Ramsey County Courthouse elopements are a beautiful fit for a 1–2 hour coverage package. We can finish the day with portraits at the Stone Arch Bridge, Mill District, or a meaningful spot nearby.

Will you travel for a destination elopement?

Yes. I'm a Minneapolis-based photographer who travels nationally and internationally for elopements — Colorado, the PNW, the UK, Italy, and beyond. Travel fees are quoted transparently based on the destination and timeline.

How far in advance should we book our elopement photographer?

Aim for 6–9 months ahead for peak season (June–October) and for any destination or North Shore date. Smaller weekday courthouse elopements in Minneapolis can sometimes book on 4–8 weeks' notice if my calendar is open.

Do you help plan the elopement day timeline?

Yes. Every elopement collection includes a 60-minute planning call where we map out the timeline, scout light, recommend officiants and florists, and build a backup weather plan. Most of my elopement couples say this was the most useful part of the experience.

Can you photograph a private cabin or backyard elopement?

Absolutely — some of my favorite Minnesota elopements have happened on a deck overlooking Lake Superior, in a Stillwater backyard, or in a cabin on Lake Vermilion. Private-property elopements are some of the most relaxed and personal sessions.

What's included in an elopement photography package?

Every elopement package includes a planning consultation, ceremony and portrait coverage, all edited high-resolution images delivered in a private online gallery within 4–6 weeks, personal print and usage rights, and a sneak peek within 5–7 days.

Do you offer adventure elopement photography in Minnesota?

Yes — adventure elopements are one of my favorite session types. Whether that's a hike-in ceremony on the Superior Hiking Trail, a sunrise vow exchange at Split Rock, or a paddle-out at the BWCA, I'm fit, flexible, and well-prepared for outdoor terrain in every season.

Do you photograph LGBTQ+ elopements?

Yes — proudly. Every couple is welcomed and celebrated, full stop. Many of my elopement couples are LGBTQ+ and I'd love to be part of your story.

Can our elopement be early morning or after sunset?

Yes. Sunrise elopements on the North Shore are unforgettable, and twilight or evening ceremonies are gorgeous when the light is soft and gold. Tell me your dream light and I'll build the timeline around it.
