If your ceremony is in Hammond but your portraits are downtown Minneapolis or on Summit Avenue in St. Paul, that's a routine day for me, not an add-on.

Hammond is a village of about 1,900 in the middle of St. Croix County's barn-wedding belt. There is no signature venue here — what there is instead is farmland, a handful of converted barns, and family properties hosting tented receptions, all within an easy interstate drive of the Twin Cities. Couples choose it for space and cost rather than for a name.

For these weddings I plan like it's a private-property day even when it isn't: arrive early, walk the site, confirm power and covered backup, and mark portrait spots before the first guest shows up. The Rush River headwaters run through the area and provide the only meaningful tree cover, so I'll usually route the couple's portrait stop toward the water if it's on or near your property. Willow River State Park is twenty minutes north if you want falls and gorge images.
