Dellwood Wedding Photographer

Dellwood sits in the north metro — roughly 25 minutes from downtown Minneapolis and inside the Minneapolis–St. Paul metro. I photograph weddings across Dellwood weekly and know the venues, the light, and the timing quirks unique to this corner of the Twin Cities.

Dellwood is a tiny, historic lakeshore city on the north end of White Bear Lake — the country club, the lake frontage and the old estate architecture make it one of the most elegant small venues markets in the metro.

Couples choosing a Dellwood wedding photographer usually also compare nearby suburbs — I regularly shoot in White Bear Lake, Mahtomedi, Vadnais Heights, Stillwater, Hugo, all covered by my metro-wide flat rate with no travel fees. If your ceremony is in Dellwood but your portraits are downtown Minneapolis or on Summit Avenue in St. Paul, that's a routine day for me, not an add-on.

Dellwood has fewer than a thousand residents and one of the prettiest wedding settings in the Twin Cities: a historic country club overlooking the north shore of White Bear Lake, surrounded by century-old lake estates and mature hardwoods. Weddings here are usually club weddings — ceremony on the lawn or terrace, cocktails overlooking the water, dinner inside.

The whole day at Dellwood Country Club is built around the western exposure over the lake, so I plan the portrait window backwards from sunset rather than from the dinner service. Fifteen minutes on the terrace at the right moment produces the images couples actually print. If weather moves in, the clubhouse interiors hold enough window light that we're not stuck — I scout the indoor backup during the getting-ready hours of every Dellwood wedding I shoot.
