The shooting window is 30–34 weeks. Earlier than that and the bump reads smaller on camera than it feels in person; later and standing through outfit changes stops being fun. Because the window is fixed, work backwards from your due date: I book maternity sessions two to three months ahead, which means the right time to reach out is your second trimester, not your third.

One Minnesota-specific note: March through June fills fastest, so summer due dates need the most lead time. Winter due dates are actually the easy ones — the studio and the conservatory don't care what the weather is doing, and open dates are easier to find. If your 30–34 week window lands between November and March, you still have real options here; that is exactly what the indoor side of my work exists for.

Sessions start at $475, and that number includes the things that usually show up as add-ons elsewhere: the full gown wardrobe in every size, editing on every delivered image, and a private online gallery. Hair and makeup is the one true add-on, at $150 — worth it if you want the editorial look the gowns deserve. There is no travel fee anywhere in the Twin Cities metro, so a Lake Harriet sunrise costs the same as a studio morning.

Sneak peeks land within 48 hours and the full gallery follows in about two weeks — fast enough that you will have the photos in hand before the baby does anything about it.

There are plenty of maternity photographers in MN, and most portfolios look good nine images at a time. Whoever you are considering — me included — here is what I would actually compare. Ask to see a full gallery from one session, not a highlight reel; consistency across sixty frames tells you far more than the best three. Ask what the wardrobe really is: how many gowns, what sizes, and whether it costs extra. Mine is included in every session, in every size, and you choose your favorites when you arrive.

Two more that get missed. If your session window falls in winter, ask what the indoor plan is — a photographer without one will be rescheduling you around the forecast. And get the turnaround in writing. Maternity has a deadline built in, and a gallery that shows up after the birth announcement has missed the point.
