Outdoor adventure elopement region
North Shore Elopements Wedding Photographer
The North Shore isn't a single venue — it's the most cinematic stretch of coastline in the Midwest, and one of my favorite places to photograph adventure elopements. Tettegouche State Park, Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock Lighthouse, Palisade Head, and dozens of overlooks along Highway 61 give couples the kind of dramatic outdoor backdrops you usually have to fly to Iceland for.
I travel from Minneapolis to the North Shore regularly for intimate elopements and adventure sessions. Permits are easy to arrange, weather is part of the magic, and a 4-hour drive gets you scenery that ranks with any national park in the country.
Best for
- Adventure elopements
- Intimate ceremonies under 30 guests
- Cinematic landscape photography
- Couples who love hiking and nature
A photographer's tips for shooting here
- 1.Sunrise at Palisade Head is unbelievable and there's no one there.
- 2.Tettegouche cliff ceremonies need a permit but are 100% worth it.
- 3.Bring waterproof shoes — the best spots involve some scrambling.
- 4.Late September catches peak fall color along the entire shoreline.
