Minneapolis Boudoir Photography Guide | Honey Deww

So you've decided to book a boudoir session — exciting! Whether you're already on my calendar or still exploring the idea, it's completely normal to feel a mix of excitement and butterflies. My goal is always for you to feel like an absolute queen by the end of your session, leaving with stunning images that celebrate your unique beauty.

What to Wear for Your Boudoir Session

Choosing your wardrobe is one of the most exciting parts of preparing! The key is to bring items that make you feel incredible and confident. Here's what I recommend:

  • 2–3 Outfit Changes: This gives us variety in your gallery. Think beyond traditional lingerie — an oversized cashmere sweater, a partner's button-down worn open, or even a simple elegant bedsheet all look amazing on camera.
  • Statement Shoes: Heels with an ankle strap can beautifully elongate your legs and add a touch of glamour to your poses.
  • Meaningful Props: A piece of jewelry with sentimental value, fresh flowers, or a partner's jersey — these personal touches add depth and story to your photographs.
  • Confidence: This is the most important thing you'll bring. I guide you through every pose and movement so you look and feel incredible.

Professional Hair & Makeup

I cannot stress enough how much professional hair and makeup can enhance your experience. It's not about looking like someone else — it's about feeling polished, pampered, and camera-ready. These artists specialize in looks that translate beautifully on camera, and it takes the pressure off you completely.

I've built relationships with incredibly talented hair and makeup artists in the Twin Cities area. When you book your session, I'll provide personalized recommendations for artists who align with your style. Many of my clients say this added pampering made their experience even more special.

Day-Of Tips for a Smooth Experience

Here are a few practical tips for the day of your session:

  • Eat Well & Hydrate: A good meal before you arrive keeps your energy up and helps you feel your best.
  • Avoid Marks: Skip tight waistbands, restrictive bras, or socks with elastic bands beforehand. Opt for loose-fitting clothing on your way to the studio.
  • Relax: When you arrive, we'll take time to chat, put on some music, and ease into the session. There's no rush — your comfort is my priority.
  • Trust the Process: Even if you've never posed before, I'll walk you through every single movement. You just need to show up and be yourself.

What Happens After Your Session

After your session, I carefully edit and curate your gallery. You'll receive your images in a private, password-protected online gallery within 3–4 weeks. From there, you can choose prints, albums, and digital downloads. Many clients tell me that seeing their final images is the most empowering part of the entire experience.
