Pinup Photography in Minneapolis

Classic 1940s and 50s pinup portraits with modern polish.

Quick Answer

What is pinup in Minneapolis?

Pinup photography is the playful cousin of boudoir — vintage 1940s and 50s wardrobe, soft retro lighting, winking smiles instead of sultry stares, and big-band-era playlists on the speakers. It's nostalgic, empowering, and an absolute blast to shoot.

About Pinup

Pinup photography is the playful cousin of boudoir — vintage 1940s and 50s wardrobe, soft retro lighting, winking smiles instead of sultry stares, and big-band-era playlists on the speakers. It's nostalgic, empowering, and an absolute blast to shoot.

Who it's for

Anyone who's ever felt drawn to old Hollywood, Rosie the Riveter, Bettie Page, or vintage Vargas illustrations. Birthdays, milestone confidence shoots, gifts for vintage-obsessed partners, or just because you've been saving Pinterest pins for years.

Wardrobe

Classic pinup pieces work best — high-waisted shorts, polka-dot swing dresses, sailor collars, gingham, garters and seamed stockings, victory rolls, red lipstick. The studio's pinup closet carries 30+ vintage and reproduction pieces in sizes XS–3X.

What to expect

Roughly 60 minutes of guided shooting through 3–4 wardrobe changes, vintage poses I demo for you, and a fully edited gallery in 3–4 weeks with both color and classic black-and-white edits.

Pinup Pricing — $450

Sessions are $450 — 1 hour in a private Minneapolis studio, every edited photo in both B&W and color, full posing guidance, and a private password-protected gallery within 3–4 weeks. Optional hair & makeup is a $150 add-on. Studio pinup closet access is included — no separate wardrobe fee.

The pinup studio setup

The studio is built for pinup — vintage paper backdrops in red, teal, mustard, and ivory; a 1950s vanity for in-camera hair-and-makeup touch-ups; a leather mid-century chaise; and warm tungsten studio lighting that mimics 1940s glamour photography.

Posing the pinup way

Pinup posing is its own vocabulary — over-the-shoulder glances, hand-on-hip swagger, exaggerated waist-curve S-bends. I demo every pose for you. You don't need any experience.

Pinup FAQ

What's the difference between pinup and boudoir?

Pinup is the playful, fully-clothed cousin of boudoir — vintage wardrobe, winking smiles, no lingerie required. Boudoir is more intimate and bedroom-oriented. Pinup is the rockabilly version: bigger smiles, bigger hair, more clothes.

Do I need to bring my own pinup wardrobe?

No — the studio pinup closet covers sizes XS–3X with 30+ vintage and reproduction pieces. Most clients bring 1–2 personal favorites and pull the rest from the closet.

Is pinup photography appropriate as a gift?

Absolutely — pinup is the most gift-friendly style I shoot. Vintage car enthusiasts, classic film lovers, and rockabilly partners all receive pinup albums beautifully.

Where do sessions take place?

All sessions are photographed in a private, comfortable studio space in the Minneapolis / Twin Cities area. The exact address is shared after booking to protect your privacy.

I've never done this — will you tell me how to pose?

Yes — every pose, every angle, every hand placement is guided. You don't need experience. My only job is to make you feel completely at ease and look incredible.

Are my photos kept private?

Always. Your gallery is password-protected and never shared publicly without a written model release that you sign on your own terms.
