Roseville and Shoreview are the rare inner-ring suburbs that publish their wedding numbers. Between the Roseville Skating Center's banquet rooms, two city-run garden settings and the Shoreview Community Center, you can price a 200-guest wedding from public rate sheets before you talk to a single salesperson.
Everything below comes from the two cities' own pages and rate documents: capacities, rental rates, kitchen and alcohol rules, and the hours you actually get. I have added the Ramsey County licence steps and the questions I would ask as the photographer before anyone signs. Where a city does not publish something, I say so rather than filling the gap with a number from a directory listing.
Which Roseville and Shoreview venues actually rent for weddings?
Five city-run spaces cover almost every budget in these two suburbs, and they sit within about ten minutes of each other along the Highway 96 and Lexington corridor.

What does the Roseville Skating Center banquet room cost?
The Skating Center at 2661 Civic Center Drive runs a banquet facility with rooms for groups of 20 to 275, overlooking the Guidant John Rose Minnesota Oval. The Rose and Fireside rooms combine into the Olympic Room, and the city publishes the rates rather than making you ask.
From the city's banquet room rate sheet: the Olympic Room on a twelve-hour all-day or wedding rental runs $1,100 for Roseville residents and $1,180 for non-residents on Friday through Sunday, with a $600 damage deposit. The Rose Room alone is $785 to $835 for five weekend hours. The same sheet lists a $175 police officer fee when alcohol is served, a $175 catering fee for full kitchen access and $75 for audio-video equipment.
Two details matter more than the headline number. Rooms are available 8am to 11pm on Friday and Saturday, and set-up and tear-down must happen inside your reservation window, so a twelve-hour block is not twelve hours of party. Where can you hold an outdoor ceremony in Roseville?
The Muriel Sahlin Arboretum, at 2525 Dale Street North inside Central Park, is the strongest outdoor option in either city. The city describes eight acres of theme gardens, manicured grounds, walkways, a water fountain and architectural features, open 8am to 10pm, with rentals running 1 June to 15 October. The city's wedding interest form caps the arboretum grounds at 300 people and the Shirlie Klaus Pavilion at 100, and asks for at least fourteen business days between the request and the date.
The nature centre is the rain plan nobody thinks of
The Harriet Alexander Nature Center sits in the same park. The city's nature centre rental page gives roughly 60 guests upstairs and 40 downstairs, plus an outdoor amphitheatre set in woods overlooking a marsh. Both levels together run $360 for a weekend block, extra hours are $50, and every rental has to end by 10pm. The upper level is off limits during public hours, Tuesday to Saturday, so an afternoon ceremony needs the lower level or an evening slot.
Smaller rooms and the golf clubhouse
Roseville also rents six neighbourhood park buildings. The city's park building rate sheet prices Autumn Grove and Lexington at $275 for five weekend hours for non-residents, with table seating for 48, and the Oasis, Sandcastle and Villa buildings at $230 for five weekend hours seating 32. What does the Shoreview Community Center charge?
The Shoreview Community Center at 4580 Victoria Street North is the most complete wedding package in either city, and the city publishes its 2026 rates. The Shoreview Room holds up to 300 depending on set-up, has a private outdoor deck and a dance floor, and runs $1,965 for a non-resident Saturday or $1,730 for a resident. The Wedell Community Room seats 220 banquet style at $1,490 non-resident on a Saturday. The Haffeman Pavilion and garden space takes 100 outdoors with an indoor pavilion for 30 and a fireplace, at $590 non-resident from May to September. Refundable deposits run $500 to $1,000.
Read the food and drink rules carefully. The same Shoreview page restricts kitchen access to caterers licensed by the State of Minnesota, charges a $300 kitchen use fee, and limits alcohol service to two named providers, Big 10 Catering or Stonehouse Catering. A beer and wine permit for the outdoor spaces is $75 plus tax. If you have a caterer you love, confirm they can work here before you fall for the room.
How does a Ramsey County marriage licence work?
Both cities are in Ramsey County, so the licence comes from the county, not from your venue or your officiant. Ramsey County says licences must be requested in person, both parties must be present, and the licence must be bought before the wedding and used within six months or it expires. The Vital Records office is at the Plato Building, 90 Plato Boulevard West in Saint Paul, open weekdays 8am to 4.30pm. Bring valid identification.
- Decide your date and confirm both of you can get to the Plato Building on a weekday together.
- If you want the reduced fee, finish at least twelve hours of premarital education first and bring the signed statement.
- Apply in person with identification, and pay the fee: Minnesota Statutes section 517.08 sets it at $125, or $50 with the premarital education statement.
- Use the licence within six months.
How I would plan photographs at each of these
These are civic buildings, not purpose-built wedding venues, and that changes where the good light is. At the Skating Center the banquet rooms face the Oval, which means big west-facing glass: lovely at 6pm in October, brutal at 2pm in June. I would either build portraits around that window or bring a plan to diffuse it. Central Park is a two-minute walk and gives you trees, the arboretum gardens and the marsh boardwalk in one loop.
At the arboretum the fountain and pavilion are the obvious spots, but the pavilion caps at 100, so with a larger guest list the ceremony sits on open lawn with no overhead shade. That is a midday sun problem and a rain problem at once, which is why I would settle a covered fallback before booking. At Shoreview, the private deck off the Shoreview Room is the single most useful feature for photographs, because it lets you step outside for portraits without moving cars. Which venues did I leave out, and why?
Midland Hills Country Club has a Roseville address and turns up on every venue list, but its events pages sit behind a members-only portal that redirected rather than loading, so I could not confirm from the club's own site that it rents to non-members for weddings. If you want it, call and ask whether member sponsorship is required.
Several venues that directories file under Roseville or Shoreview are actually in Little Canada, Vadnais Heights, Arden Hills or Maplewood. That matters for travel time and sometimes for the licence county, though all of those are still Ramsey. Roseville sits between the two downtowns, roughly fifteen minutes from each on Highway 36 and Interstate 35W, and Shoreview is about ten minutes further north. That makes a split day realistic, with a church ceremony in either city and the reception out here. Build in more travel time than the map suggests if you are moving guests during rush hour.
