Traveling from Minneapolis

Colorado Wedding & Elopement Photographer

United States

Colorado is one of my favorite states to shoot in — and one of the most-requested destinations for couples flying me out from Minneapolis. The light at altitude is unlike anywhere else, the mountain backdrops are endless, and the elopement permits make Rocky Mountain National Park, Maroon Bells, and Sapphire Point genuinely accessible for small weddings. Whether you're planning an intimate elopement in Estes Park, a full wedding weekend in Telluride or Aspen, or a mountain engagement session in Breckenridge, I bring the same documentary-meets-editorial approach I'm known for in the Twin Cities — and a backpack built for hiking your portraits to 12,000 feet.

  • Maroon Bells & Aspen
  • Telluride & Mountain Village

Travel notes

  • Most Colorado elopements are 2-night trips — fly in the day before to scout, shoot the day of, fly home the next morning.
  • I handle Rocky Mountain National Park permit photo requirements and can advise on permit-friendly times of year.
  • Altitude matters: I plan your hike timeline so you're not gassed for your first-look photos.

Colorado Photography FAQ

Do you travel to Colorado for weddings and elopements?

Yes — I travel to Colorado regularly for weddings, elopements, and portrait sessions. I'm based in Minneapolis but more than half of my year is spent on the road. Travel fees are flat and transparent, with no markup on flights or lodging.

How much extra does it cost to bring you to Colorado?

Travel is quoted as a flat add-on covering flights, ground transport, and 1–2 nights of lodging depending on your timeline. For most Colorado weddings it's a few hundred to ~$1,500 on top of your collection — and I never mark up travel costs.

Do you scout Colorado locations before the shoot?

Always. I arrive a day early, scout your ceremony and portrait spots in person, watch how light moves at your venue, and build a shot list around your actual location. You're never paying me to figure things out on the day-of.

Can you legally photograph weddings in Colorado?

Yes. I carry $2M of liability insurance valid nationwide in the US, and for international weddings I file the appropriate travel documentation and equipment carnets where required. Your venue gets a Certificate of Insurance at no charge.

Have you shot at Rocky Mountain National Park before?

Yes — multiple times, in every season. I know the photo permit process, the best low-traffic overlooks, and which trails work for couples in formalwear vs. hiking attire.

Can you photograph our elopement and our welcome dinner the next day?

Absolutely — Colorado trips are often booked as a 2-day mini wedding weekend. I can cover ceremony day plus a welcome dinner, brunch, or trail session for a small add-on.
