Brooklyn Park Wedding Venues: What the City Publishes

Brooklyn Park is unusual: the city itself owns the three best wedding spaces in town. Edinburgh USA, the Community Activity Center and Historic Eidem Farm are all municipal, all publish their rates, and together they cover everything from a 300-guest ballroom evening to a hundred people on a farm lawn with portable toilets.

Everything below comes from the city's own pages and rate sheets, plus the Three Rivers Park District page for the regional park inside city limits and the Hennepin County licence steps. Where the city does not publish something, I have said so. I have also flagged the spaces that search results place in Brooklyn Park but that are actually somewhere else.

What wedding venues does Brooklyn Park publish?

Three city-run venues, at three completely different scales.

What does Edinburgh USA cost for a wedding?

Edinburgh USA, at 8700 Edinbrook Crossing, publishes its room list and capacities: the Stirling and Eden rooms together max out at 300, Highlands and Skye as a full room at 260, either of those alone at 120, the Sutherland and Tartan room at 60 and the Eden room alone at 50. Rental fees run from $200 to $2,750 depending on the room and the day of the week, with a $600 refundable damage deposit, and an outdoor wedding venue including chairs is a $600 addition.

The catering rules are the part to read twice. The same page lets you hire any full-service licensed caterer, but bar and beverage service has to come from the Tavern at Edinburgh for licensing reasons, a ten per cent facility fee applies to catering invoices, drop-off catering is not permitted and caterers must stay on site through service. Budget the facility fee before you fall in love with a quote, and if you are hunting for value the Twin Cities venues under five thousand dollars roundup is a fair benchmark.

What does the Community Activity Center charge?

The Community Activity Center sits at 5600 85th Avenue North, and the city publishes a full rate card for it. The Gardenview Room holds 250, overlooks the garden and gazebo, and runs $1,050 for residents or $1,300 for non-residents Friday through Sunday, falling to $420 and $500 Monday through Thursday, with a $600 refundable damage deposit. The Grand Rooms configure from 110 up to 400; all three together are $1,150 for residents or $1,400 for non-residents on a weekend, and a single Grand Room is $385 or $70 an hour. The outdoor Gazebo is $350 for residents and $450 for non-residents.

Three extra line items matter. The same rate card lists a $110 security charge with a three-hour minimum whenever alcohol is served, a $200 alcohol service fee and $100 for kitchen use on top of a $250 kitchen damage deposit. Booking windows are worth planning around too: a full Grand Room weekend is available up to 18 months ahead, while a partial weekend rental only opens 90 days before the event.

Can you get married at Historic Eidem Farm?

Sort of, and it is worth understanding exactly what you are renting. The city's Eidem Farm rental page prices private group rentals for up to 100 people: the grounds alone are $200 for two hours with each additional hour at $75, the schoolhouse is $75 an hour, a bonfire is $50 and a hayride is $100, over a $300 refundable damage deposit. Rental covers the barn and roughly 2.25 acres of fenced historic farm grounds, with parking for 110 and six picnic tables.

The limitations are published just as plainly, and they are real. No alcohol or tobacco on site. No running water, no catering kitchen, no AV equipment and no heated or air-conditioned buildings. Restrooms are portable. Food distribution must comply with the Minnesota Department of Health. All event equipment, including tents, tables and chairs, is on you. That is a ceremony-and-picnic venue, not a reception venue, and I would treat it as one.

The photo shoot rate is separate

Eidem prices photography on its own scale. The same page lists student, family and wedding photography at $50 an hour for the grounds with a two-hour minimum, and $75 for each individual building, over a $300 damage deposit. That is genuinely cheap for a farm setting with gardens, open fields and 1900s buildings, and it is a real option for couples marrying elsewhere in the metro who want a rural-looking portrait session without driving an hour. Is there a park venue in Brooklyn Park?

There is a regional park, but not a regional park wedding building. Mississippi Gateway Regional Park at 10360 West River Road is run by the Three Rivers Park District inside Brooklyn Park city limits, and the only reservable facility the district lists there is the Oakview Reservation Shelter, available from the last Friday in April to the last Friday in October.

The Gateway Center in the same park has a wrap-around deck leading to the Treetop Trail with views over the Mississippi, but the district's page for it does not offer it for private event or wedding rental. Three Rivers' wedding and rental spaces page names four buildings, the Elm Creek Chalet, Gale Woods Pavilion, Hyland Hills Chalet and Silverwood Great Hall, and none of them is in Brooklyn Park. How does the Hennepin County marriage licence work?

Brooklyn Park is in Hennepin County. The county sets the regular fee at $125 and a reduced fee of $50 after twelve hours of premarital education, matching Minnesota Statutes section 517.08, and the licence is valid for six months.

Hennepin is the most flexible county in the metro on how you apply. It offers three routes: both of you in person at a service centre, one of you in person, or a fully remote option with nobody attending. Bring a driver's licence, state ID or birth certificate. Service centre office hours are 8am to 4pm, and you can schedule an appointment rather than queueing. If one of you works days that cannot bend, the one-person and remote routes are the reason to marry in Hennepin rather than assume you must both take a morning off.

How I would plan photographs at each of these

Edinburgh is a golf course clubhouse, which means the good light is outside and the reception is inside. Ask where the outdoor ceremony site sits relative to the clubhouse and whether the wedding party can get onto the course for portraits, because a course sells tee times and Saturday afternoons are its busiest product. Build the walk into the schedule rather than hoping.

The Community Activity Center's garden and gazebo are the visual asset, and the Gardenview Room looks onto them, so a late-afternoon ceremony at the gazebo followed by dinner in the room is the cleanest version of a day here with no driving at all.
