Woodbury is the rare east-metro city that prints its wedding prices. Between the city's own Central Park rooms, the city-owned golf course and one public country club, you can get a real quote for a 150-guest wedding here without speaking to anybody, which is not true of most Twin Cities suburbs.
What follows is only what these venues publish themselves: capacities, rental rates, catering terms and booking rules. I have added the Washington County licence steps, the questions I would ask before signing, and how I would plan portraits around each space. Where a venue does not publish something, I have said so instead of filling the gap.
Where can you actually get married in Woodbury?
Three places publish enough detail to plan around, and they cover three different budgets.

Beyond those, the city lists rentable space at Ojibway Park and the M Health Fairview Sports Center, and there are park shelters and buildings at Carver Lake and Colby Lake. Those are picnic and meeting spaces rather than reception venues, but they work for a ceremony or a next-day brunch. What does Woodbury's Central Park cost?
The city's rental spaces page prices the whole Central Park complex. The Woodlands rooms A, B and C hold 256 people together, divide into three, and come with projectors, microphones and a sound system; the entire space costs $2,000 to $2,750 on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and individual rooms run $70 to $140 an hour. The fully enclosed Amphitheater seats 175 and costs $300 for two hours. Prairie A and B hold 76 between them at $70 to $100 an hour, and the small Savanna rooms hold 12 each at $40 to $60 an hour.
One quirk: for a two-hour ceremony with 150 guests, the Amphitheater at $300 is the cheapest real indoor ceremony room I know of in the east metro. Pairing an Amphitheater ceremony with a Woodlands reception in the same building removes the transfer entirely, which buys you back half an hour of portrait time and removes the single most common cause of a late dinner.
The city does not publish resident and non-resident rates for these rooms, and it does not publish alcohol or catering rules on that page, so ask for both in writing. It does publish its cancellation terms. The rental opportunities page states that full payment and a refundable damage deposit are due at the time of reservation, that cancelling 45 days or more ahead returns the reservation fee and the full deposit minus a 15 per cent administrative fee, and that cancelling inside 45 days returns the damage deposit but not the rental. Read that before you hold a date speculatively.
Eagle Valley Golf Course: the city's golf venue
Eagle Valley at 2600 Double Eagle Lane is also run by Woodbury Parks and Recreation, and its banquet and meeting room page publishes a full rate card. Seating is up to 140 banquet style and 160 theatre style. For residents, a Friday evening from 4pm to midnight is $850 and a Saturday evening on the same block is $950; Sunday to Friday daytime is $100 an hour with a two-hour minimum, and Saturday daytime is $120 an hour with a three-hour minimum. Non-resident rates are $950 Friday evening, $1,050 Saturday evening, $120 an hour weekdays and $140 an hour Saturday daytime. Full facility rentals require a $250 deposit.
Crucially, the same page states that staff can assist with catering or you can have the event served by a licensed caterer of your choice. That flexibility is unusual at this price, and it is the lever most couples should pull: an open-caterer venue lets you control the largest line in the budget. The page does not state an alcohol policy, so confirm who may serve and under whose licence before you book a bar.
Prestwick Golf Club
Prestwick describes itself as one of the Twin Cities' premier public golf courses, which answers the question people actually ask: you do not need to be a member. It publishes the Prestwick Ballroom as a space for wedding receptions holding up to 250 people with additional spaces available, and says its clubhouse restaurant, the Wick Pub and Grill overlooking the 18th green, caters large banquets, golf outings and weddings.
Prestwick does not publish rates, room dimensions or catering rules on its own site, and its separate restaurant site did not return a page I could read, so I am not going to quote numbers for it. Ask for the ballroom's seated capacity with a dance floor in place, which is always lower than the headline figure, and ask whether ceremony space by the first tee is included or charged separately.
What I check at a Woodbury venue before the wedding day
- Which way the windows face. Golf clubhouse dining rooms usually have long window walls, which is wonderful at 6pm and brutal at 1pm. Ask to see the room at roughly your ceremony hour.
- Where the ceremony moves if it rains. At Central Park the answer is easy, because the Amphitheater is enclosed. On a golf course it is usually the same room as the reception, which means a flip and a gap in your timeline.
- How far the portrait spot is from the door. On a course, the good light is often three holes out. Ask whether a cart is available and who drives it, or budget ten extra minutes each way.
- Whether the dance floor is fixed or built. A built floor eats setup time and determines where the head table can sit.
- What time the building empties. City facilities enforce end times more strictly than hotels. Confirm whether tear-down is inside your rental block.
Planning the portrait window
Woodbury is flat, green and open, which means your best portraits will come from the last hour before sunset rather than from any particular landmark. Both golf venues give you fairway light and mature trees; Central Park gives you an indoor option and a genuinely useful covered exit if the weather turns.
Work backwards. How do you get a marriage licence in Washington County?
Woodbury is in Washington County. The county's marriage services page sets out the process: complete the application online, then both applicants appear in person at the Washington County Government Center, 14949 62nd Street North in Stillwater, to take an oath and pay the fee within seven days of completing the online application. Payment is cash or check only, same-day issuance is available, and the licence is valid for six months from the date of application.
The fee is $125, or $50 with a completed Reduced Marriage Fee Educator's Statement confirming premarital education. Minnesota Statutes section 517.08 is the underlying authority for both figures and requires at least 12 hours of premarital education for the reduced fee. A Minnesota licence is valid anywhere in the state, so a Stillwater trip covers a Woodbury wedding. How many guests can a Woodbury venue hold?
The largest published capacities are 256 in Central Park's combined Woodlands rooms and 250 in the Prestwick ballroom, with Eagle Valley at 140 banquet style. If your guest list runs past about 260, you are looking outside Woodbury, most likely towards Saint Paul or the larger Stillwater venues.
How far ahead should you book a Woodbury venue?
City reservations open online for the following year, and outdoor athletic field reservations open on the first business day in January or at least two weeks ahead. For a Saturday between June and October, treat twelve to eighteen months as normal and book the venue before any other vendor. Photographers and caterers fill those same dates fast.
